Tracking Health & Insights
The day before your session, email or text Sonya a short list of your top health concerns (no more than five). Include short summations of any progress and/or insights (keeping a journal is best way to free-write and take key points for the email/text.) Sonya reads any client emails/texts first thing in the morning to prepare. You will have more session time for bodywork this way.
Over time, your journal will help you see progress that is often easily forgotten, including your body communicating with you. Your Body Guide.

Coming to the Session
Sessions start and end on time. Please allow enough travel time and understand that we cannot run over-time if a client arrives late.
We are located in the business district of San Anselmo. Metered street parking is plentiful, give yourself an extra few minutes for finding free street parking.
If you have any issue finding us, just text and Sonya will help you in.
Bring or wear comfortable, non-restrictive clothing; thin, natural fiber (cotton, etc) is best.
Avoid stimulants prior to session.
– 03
Session Start
Quick osteopathic body evaluations begin with you standing, feet hip width, eyes closed with your hands to your side while Sonya gently applies pressure with her hand on top of your head and then moving to on-table evaluations feeling for fascial tension.
– 04
Joint Opening
Laying face-down, osteopathic joint techniques are rhythmical rocking and range of motion. Open joints allow the more subtle osteopathic techniques in step 5 to release tissue in less time with more widespread effects. The nervous system loves this rocking and client’s breathing naturally becomes full and easy.
– 05
Specific Bodywork
Based on the quick body evaluation, Sonya places her hands in the client’s body that guides the tissue’s process. The combination of osteopathic techniques with and client dialoguing skills support the process. As we listen and follow the tissue, clients may notice sensations, some common sensations include temperature, color, and shapes that transform at the tissues own pace. At the end of the process most clients experience relief and ease. Sonya’s osteopathic skills include palpating for the specific tissue to exhibit it’s healthy state of movement and vitality.
– 06
Trust the Process
Every session is unique. Allowing the session to unfold via the bodies guidance most often leads to many, if not all of the symptoms a client came in experiencing being greatly alleviated, and for more releases than one expected. Clients also increase their self-connection and feeling in their body.
That said, if ever anything truly does not feel right during a session, be sure to tell Sonya and she will adjust accordingly.
– 07
Closing a Session
The last few minutes of a session are about giving a sense of completion for the work done. If we are ever in the middle of a process, we will “let the body know that “bookmark” the work and book a follow up as soon as possible. So far, bodies have always understood and appreciated that we will come back soon.
If you had any Somato-Emotional experiences Sonya may remind you of what “came up” during the session and to spend some time integrating post-session.
– 08
Post-Session
We highly recommend giving yourself 30 minutes after the session in order to journal about your experiences during the session, as our memory often fades quickly and this subtle work is often not acknowledged.
Taking a slow, unfocused walk outside is great for integrating the changes and re-integrating with the outside world.
So long as you are relaxed, tissue unwinding can continue for hours, if not days, after the session.
